Ont. livestock haulers' video showcases safety, security

January 20, 2012 - The Ontario Trucking Association's Livestock Transporters' Division (OTA-LTD) today released a video showcasing its efforts to promote animal safety and security.

The video is part of the OTA-LTD's campaign to achieve industry wide adoption of a transport training program in 2012 and its consideration as a requirement to transport animals from all supply chain stakeholders.

"As leaders of the Ontario livestock transport industry, the OTA-LTD is committed to raising the bar," OTA-LTD chairman Randy Scott stated. "Today, fewer drivers who grew up with animals are entering the industry. Ongoing training is necessary to give new drivers the skills to do the best job possible while more experienced drivers also benefit by freshening up their knowledge of the most current standards and best practices available."
